Welcome to Fellow Newbie Oracle
by SnakesInTheTower ini posted a new topic so i could expand on some comments without hijacking the hugging 5thgeneration thread.
my take on point 1: blood transfusions.
personally, i still would not accept blood transfusions, but not because of some borg mind control.

No outlet for unattractive men in this society...
by Gregor inthey work hard and take care of their mothers.
they are loving uncles and kind hearted.
but they are 5'3', 290 lbs., bald at 35 and their personal interests are grounded in 3 stooges movies and star trek reruns.

The following comment has to do more with the "human condition" than a "religious perspective:"
I see the best circumstances for a "healthy," positive, sexual expression best founded in a relationship that is long term and mutually beneficial. Sex is just too complicated to be "beneficail" in any other place. If we are just using sex as a release of built up frustration or lust, it is NOT connected to a removal of lonliness: that was my point. What is missing in the society around us is the interactions that promote the personal contact. Computers and the net are a means of contact, however, we are typing or talking while alone.
Your buds need to get their arses (hillbilly for "buttucks") off the couch and down to the local soup kitchen or Habitat for Humanity project. Get involve with people: frustrating as that is. They need people to form the relationships that will lead them to thier soul mate. Man, just look at the pictures of the women that have been posted on this board: everyone is really beautiful for this or that reason: they just shine. And, from the posts they are really cool. Yet, think of how much "cooler" they would be if you were working beside them in a project or over a cup of coffee with common friends.
This is what your buddies need to see.
I'm done....

Having sex with a total stranger for money does not sound like a solution for lonliness: it would seem to only increase it. A temporary, dangerous, illigal, emotionally uncomfortable solution to "horniness:" I will buy that, but, not lonliness. Your friends need to be encouraged to risk the time and effort of relationships, generally, (even if it means missing a Star Trek rerun) and, then, specifically, they will meet women of the same type: Trek loving, stay at home girls that will heat a frozen dinner while dressed in a "Five of Nine" costume.....
Yours in this Struggle,

You said "there are plenty of fish in the sea...."
So, you have fallen in love with a mermaid. I must admit, from the illustrations I have seen, that the top half is pretty cool. The problem is that bottom half.....
So, unless you kind find a Walt Disney solution: head for dry land and find a two legged companion.
My take,

I voted, for the first time, in the last presidential election. The choice was dumb and dumber. I voted for dumb. The other party's candidate won. The rest is history.......

Why the so formal attire?
by greendawn inhaving visited various churches i have seen that many of their members are casually dressed while worshipping.
the contrast with the jws is great, why do they always have to be formally dressed in their suits and anyone wishing to dress casually is frowned upon?
it goes to show how pharisaic and controlling the cult is.

I told folks I have meet that I did not attend "worship" services for decades: I attended "business meetings." It is the WTB and TS INCORPORATED and the BUSINESS of the WT is this stuff that goes on at meetings and in "service." Business people dress the part.....

Need to vent
by lola28 init's been one of those days, the kind that make you wish you never got up in the morning.
as many of you know my younger sister has lupus and had to go on meds late last year thankfully she has gotten much better these past few months, but it seems that there's always a trade off, we get good news only to be hit by bad news.
a few weeks ago she went to her doctor for a check up and they did a few tests, late last week they called me because they had some bad news, there was sugar in her urine and her blood, it seems that this is a result of the steroids that she is on for the lupus.

Oh, and, Crumpet is right....
Buy the kids some little something and pass it out.....or chat with thier parents a bit and let them vent...reach out: by letting them draw refreshing water from your "well" then fresh water will flow into you to fill that void. Funny thing.....it works.
Hang tough,

Lola,
Even though I do not know you, be assurred of a long distance hug from MO from my family.
I have a long time neighbor that has lupus. It has been a battle. He is a Roman Catholic and as close to a Saint as I will know. He is always positive and upbeat. Yet, as "gutsy" and loving as he is, the condition has caused a great deal of suffering. I have empathy for your situation.
Our oldest daughter, Heather, had a condition called "Severe Infant Hypoglycemia." The result was the removal of ninety percent of her pancreas. We have spent so many months in hospitals. Nothing will exhaust a person more than trying to rest in the bright lights and uncomfortable chairs of waiting rooms.
I wish you strength and patience. I am going to add you to my prayer list for these things.
Yours in this Journey,
V

A buddy of mine quoted a man as saying: A fool rejoices when he finds error, a wise man rejoices when he finds truth." This quote seems down those same lines.........
